So as I have already mentioned for some reason or another I could eat a biscuit or a chocolate bar and I can easily gain a pound within the hour, there are a lot of myths, facts and other rubbish all over the net about what is good and bad for you and what you should and shouldn’t eat that helps with boosting up your metabolism.
What is Metabolism?
Metabolism is the process of breaking down proteins, fats and carbohydrates to yield the energy your body requires to maintain itself. Your metabolism rate depends on the interaction between the amount of calories you take in, the amount of calories you burn while eating and exercising, and the calories you burn based on your individual genetic makeup. Unfortunately your metabolism may be partly determined by your genes which we cannot really do much about and it is true what they say, as you get older your metabolism does slow right down which I have noticed over the years and it usually begins from the age of 25 and being that I am 27 this year I have discovered other alternatives to help increase my metabolism when eating and exercising and I certainly have noticed the difference in weight loss and calories burnt due to purchasing a new fitness watch which tracks and records all my steps and calories which I shall be uploading info on shortly.
So I am going to share some of the things I have been using lately that has helped improve and increase my metabolism and which I can honestly say has made a difference.
- Metabolism Support tablets:
So these bad boys are actually amazing, they are a great metabolism support which increases your metabolism when you’re exercising, whether it be spending time in the gym or like me jogging, this really helps to burn so much more calories, from jogging for half an hour and burning 300/400 calories I have noticed that I am burning at least 500/600, I am sweating all the fat away, they are quite expensive but definitely worth the purchase. For me I take them in the mornings, we tend to burn more when exercising first thing in the morning and you only need to take them whenever you’re exercising so no need to take them every day so they will last a while.
2. Cold Water
Water is the obvious one, it’s so great for your skin and flushes out impurities, as your body attempts to regulate the cold from the water, and it gives you a slight metabolic boost to warm you up.
- Green Tea
One of my all time favourites this has been shown to boost metabolism because its caffeine content and antioxidants for good health. Having a cup of green tea first thing in the morning will give you a good start to the day and when you burn the most calories. Peppermint tea is also great to.
- Hot Peppers
The capsaicin in peppers is the source from which hot peppers get their heat. Capsaicin is often an ingredient in fat burning and metabolism boosting products; I have found that when having hot peppers it has also helped me reduce cravings.
I won’t lie, I actually hate grape fruit and I have slowly been forcing myself to like it which isn’t really going down well, however for anyone else that likes grape fruit it has been shown to reduce insulin levels, which can help to boost your metabolic rate.
- Dairy Products
There is some evidence suggesting that eating calcium-rich low fat dairy products such as yogurt and skim milk can help to burn fat and increase metabolism. Although I do try and limit how much dairy I have.
The following is lists of other foods believed to burn fat and boost your metabolism.
- Brussels sprouts
- Lemon and lime
Give these a try and see if you notice the difference.
